Beyond the meme... what are male tears ? "Male tears" are not just any form of crying or genuine expression of vulnerability coming from a man. The concept of "male tears" refers to a very common practice amongst mysoginists in an attempt to undermine the legitimity of any feminist discourse. It consists of presenting cishet men as targets of an irrational feminist threat that would be coming after just any man out of pure and straight misandry. In reality, it is nothing more than a rhetorical strategy aiming at deflecting accountability and resisting change. In this piece, the protagonist is a young and passionate feminist preparing to launch a "molotov cocktail" made out of these male tears. In fact, they here appear to be extremely flamable. As I was intending to represent the word «&nbsp;healing&nbsp;» the image of this fierce yet fragile black woman suturing her own wounds popped in my mind. She’s peaceful. Patient. Resilient. Alone… I have seen it happen a lot: women being left alone to deal with their suffering. Expected to endure. Expected to stay silent and forgive the violence and neglect of their brothers in fight. Expected to hold the community together at their own expense. Expected to lick their wounds and go straight back to fiercely taking care of every body else. Expected to «&nbsp;no woman no cry&nbsp;» in the face of disrespect and constant dehumanisation. Even in revolutionary spaces patriarchy remains overlooked. This print is part of a limited edition. HEALING

"Manman ich" in creole means "mother of children". Sometimes used in a derogatory way to stigmatise single mothers I wanted to reclame it to name this piece. This illustration is an ode to motherhood and womanhood. This mother is present, surrounded by her kids. She is ready to fight whoever dares to attack her cubs.
